“Generative tools for bioclimatic architecture” // Collaboration with Hogeschool Rotterdam

Scope:

To develop a parametric tool between Grasshopper and Ecotect, this will create & modify the geometries of  a builing. Bidirectional integration between Grasshopper & Ecotect, based on enviromental data.

This workshop concludes the line of investigation: "Generative tools for bioclimatic architecture" for the wider  "OR/gan research" programme.

 

Specific goals

To understand the generative design philosophy & oriented objects programming (OOP )

Tu understand Grasshopper logic.

To develop one generative tool for building design that contains parameters for sustainability.

 

Minimum 5 people, Maximum 16 people

Workshop duration: 25 hrs

 

Focus:

Architects, industrial designers, urbanists, interior designers, environmental engineers.

 

Work flow: 

Monday 21 may: 10 - 15 hrs

1) The theoretical explanation of OOP & generative design, come together through this design project.

2) Technical explanation of Grasshopper

3) Conceptual development of the project, based in a mind-map and divided into: Actors, processes & relations

Tuesday 22 & wednesday 23 may: 10 - 15 hrs

4) Development of a Generative Tool in Grasshopper

Thursday 24 may: 10 - 15 hrs

5) To modify geometries through environmental data: Grasshopper + ECOTECT

Friday 25 may: 10 - 15 hrs

6) To generate a presentation (images & video)

Requirements:

It is not necesary to have prior knowledge of Ecotect ,Grasshopper or Rhino. To realize the course, the student will work with their own laptops, it is necesary to have the software pre-installed before the class starts.
